About Us

Welcome to the new Oregon GSA Connect Website!

Many years ago a group called the Oregon GSA Network was a thriving organization that linked together the state’s GSAs. Together, they were able to come together for joint projects, learn about each other’s activities, and socialize–We’re hoping to recreate that same experience with this new website and a new name. We’re glad you’re here!

What we do:
Oregon Gay-Straight Alliance Connect is a youth-led organization that connects school-based Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs) around the state to each other and community resources. Through peer support, leadership development, and training, GSA Network supports young people in starting, strengthening, and sustaining GSAs.

An Oregon Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) is a student-initiated and student-run club in a public or private school. The goal of a GSA is to provide a safe, supportive environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning (LGBTQ) and straight ally youth to meet and discuss sexual orientation and gender identity issues, and to work to create a school environment free of discrimination, harassment, and intolerance.

Mission Statement

Oregon Gay-Straight Alliance Connect is a youth-led organization that connects school-based Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs) to each other and community resources. Through peer support, leadership development, and training, GSA Network supports young people in starting, strengthening, and sustaining GSAs and builds the capacity of GSAs to:

Create safe environments in schools for students to support each other and learn about homophobia and other oppressions

Educate the school community about homophobia, gender identity, and sexual orientation issues, and

Fight discrimination, harassment, and violence in schools.

We Need Your Help!

Please consider helping us make this website, and Oregon GSA Connect, awesome. You’re assistance is needed to help us better connect with GSAs around the state. What do you want to see happen? How can we best serve GSAs? Are there resources that you need? Drop us a note–we’d love to hear from you.
